Stephen Colbert's Solution for Trump After MRI Results

Stephen Colbert mocked assertions from President Donald Trumps doctor regarding the benefits of MRI scans for men of the presidents age, delivering his own pointed remedy for the commander-in-chief: Retiring!

The satire followed the White Houses Monday release of an October MRI report, in which Trumps physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, declared the president to be in excellent health. Dr. Barbabella emphasized that the imaging was performed because men in Trumps age bracket benefit from a thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health.

The disclosure came after Minnesota Governor Tim Walz sparked controversy by challenging Trump to make the scan public, responding to the presidents previous remark on Truth Social where he called Walz seriously retarded.

On The Late Show Monday evening, Colbert initially appeared to accept the doctors statement, saying, OK, fair enough, but quickly added, Men in his age group also benefit from retiring. He concluded with a rhetorical flourish: So can we write that prescription next?

The MRI was described by the White House as part of a routine yearly checkup, though it came just six months after Trumps previous annual physicalan unusually short interval. The administration also faced scrutiny from a critical New York Times report suggesting a decline in the presidents stamina.
