Authorities have identified the two women who tragically lost their lives in a collision that also left a nine-year-old boy with critical injuries. Amie Pearson, 26, and Chelsea Carlisle, 29, were traveling in a Suzuki Alto with the child when their vehicle collided with a Vauxhall Meriva in Pleasley, near the Derbyshire-Nottinghamshire boundary, at around 06:20 GMT on Thursday.
Three male passengers in the other car sustained injuries, with two of them hospitalized due to serious conditions. An 18-year-old man was apprehended at the scene on Common Lane under suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently receiving medical care in hospital.
The road between the A617 and Meadow Lane was closed while emergency teams attended the accident site. Firefighters from multiple stations in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire responded to the incident.
