With quarterback Baker Mayfield dealing with a shoulder issue on his non-throwing arm and receiver Chris Godwin Jr. only recently returning to full health, the offense has leaned heavily on Irvings ability to move the chains.
While his 61-yard performance may not reflect his usual standards, it was his first game back after a long absence. As he continues to regain rhythm and conditioning, his production is expected to increase each week.
The return of key offensive weapons could not have come at a better time. Alongside a healthy Irving and a recovering Godwin, head coach Todd Bowles also hinted that Mike Evans may soon return to practice. With their core players trending toward full strength, Tampa Bays offense is beginning to look dangerous once again.
If the Buccaneers are able to maintain their position atop the NFC South and lock in a playoff berth, Bucky Irvings presence might be one of the main reasons they get there.
