Cowboys playoff hopes rise as Lions lose Amon-Ra St. Brown before crucial game

The Dallas Cowboys are gaining momentum in their playoff chase, while the Detroit Lions face a setback with the loss of Amon-Ra St. Brown before a crucial matchup. Since a series of strategic roster moves orchestrated by team owner Jerry Jones in early November, the Cowboys have surged with three consecutive victories.

Next Thursday, the Cowboys visit Ford Field in Detroit, where a win could significantly boost their chances of reaching the postseason. Though these teams have met three times in previous playoff contests, this upcoming regular season game carries high stakes and a playoff-like intensity, as the winner will be in a stronger position for January football.

Lomas Brown, seven-time Pro Bowl selection and member of the Detroit Lions All-Time Team, currently a game analyst on WXYT radio, shared his insights with Sporting News. He emphasized the importance of Thursdays game: Everything is on the line for both teams. Its a must-win to stay in playoff contention and build momentum for the remainder of the season. The Lions havent lost consecutive games since October 2022.

Brown also commented on the Lions defensive struggles: A strong pass rush is necessary because opposing quarterbacks have had too much time in the pocket. The defense hasnt been effective in disrupting plays consistently, and penalties at critical moments have hurt us. Recovery from injuries could make a significant difference.

Adding to Detroits challenges, Amon-Ra St. Brown is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain. His absence could provide the Cowboys with an advantage as they aim to continue their winning streak.
