Woman in her thirties battling for survival following a crash

A woman is in critical condition after a serious collision on the A19, authorities report, while two men have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Northumbria Police confirmed the crash involved a Volkswagen T-Roc and a Skoda Fabia in Holystone, North Tyneside, around 22:40 BST on Friday. According to investigators, the Volkswagen may have struck the Skoda while attempting to overtake a stationary vehicle. The Skoda's driver reportedly left the scene.
The female driver of the Volkswagen, who is in her 30s, suffered severe injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Police have arrested two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving. Both individuals are currently in police custody as inquiries continue.
Authorities have closed a section of the northbound A19 while investigations are ongoing. National Highways have put diversions in place, warning drivers to anticipate delays.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward.
