Violent Protests in Ramat Gan as Soldiers Rescued by Border Police
On Tuesday night, tensions escalated in Ramat Gan when hundreds of protesters clashed with military police attempting to arrest yeshiva students avoiding IDF service. The situation intensified as demonstrators overturned a military police vehicle, shouting slogans against the authorities.
Border Police units intervened to rescue the soldiers under attack. Earlier in the evening, protesters had blocked the vehicle while chanting, "We do not recognize the rule of the heretics, and we do not report to their offices."
Despite the chaos, the military police managed to detain three yeshiva students during the late-night operation. Attempts to arrest an additional student at his residence were reportedly unsuccessful, according to ultra-Orthodox media outlets.
Jerusalem Teen Arrested Over Assault on Shas MK
Separately, a 14-year-old boy from Jerusalem was taken into custody on Sunday for his alleged involvement in an assault on Shas MK Yoav Ben-Tzur and for damaging his vehicle during an incident in downtown Jerusalem approximately a week ago. Authorities continue to identify other suspects using video footage and ongoing evidence collection.
The attack was reportedly motivated by Ben-Tzurs support of the draft law. While the politicians car sustained minor damage, no injuries were reported. Police and Border Police forces dispersed the rioters and pursued individuals involved in the attack.
Following the incident, members of the Jerusalem Faction demonstrated outside the residences of Shas leader Aryeh Deri and MK Yaakov Asher of the Degel HaTorah party, including a repeated protest at Ashers home.
